Chertsey is a livestock and maize farm, situated on the Swartberg/Matatiele road. It belonged to the Herring family for many generations, was sold to Henry and Rika Jacobs before it was bought by the Kirks in December 2005. It is obvious that the previous owners shared Jean, Trevor and Gaye’s passion for gardening so they consider themselves blessed to have taken over a peaceful, well established, perfectly manicured garden, as well as the talented, enthusiastic gardener, Angelina!

The garden has a 180 degree view looking out over the Cedarville Flats, incorporates a number of interesting features and has sweeps of plants and ground covers, which provide an abundance of colour. A new extension has been added this year!

There will be refreshments all weekend and KEHS will be hosting a barn dance and steak evening on the Saturday night.

KEHS will provide a delicious tea garden under the trees after an inter-denominational church service at 9.30am on Sunday. Please bring a camping chair or picnic blanket for the service.

Kibo Krafts will be there! Toni McLeod and Andrika Symington will be on hand, selling their beautifully handmade bags, quilts, cushions, hats and lovely placemats.

Sharlene Sankey, from Rhodes, is a new addition this year! She will be selling handmade cards and placemats. She will also be giving demonstrations and lessons on how to make the cards, using a very unique method.

Directions: From Swartberg: Gaye is a further 40kms on the P604 road to Matatiele. Cars will need to travel carefully as the P604 is rough in places.

From Cedarville: From Meadowbrook, travel a further 3kms along the P604 towards Swartberg before turning right into the Chertsey driveway.
