Dr Carin van Ginkel – Wetland Plants of East Griqualand

Carin holds a BSc (Botany and Zoology), a BSc Honors (Zoology), an MSc (Limnology) and a PhD in Botany from the Universities of the Free State and Potchefstroom. Since 2009 she has been a Specialist Scientist at Cripsis Environment and, as such, has been a member of a number of Water Research Commission projects, a technical specialist on numerous WRC Research Project Reference groups, the author of several books on Eutrophication and Wetland Plants Identification and a Limnological (Freshwater) specialist with experience in water quality, zooplankton, phytoplankton, aquatic and wetland plants, monitoring, analysis, modelling and management techniques.

Join Carin from 11:00 on Saturday to learn more about our fascinating East Griqualand wetland plants at AgriSPACE at Kruispruit, the garden of Dr Merida Roets, in Karg’s Post. Her talk will be followed by a lunch served by the Methodist ladies at 12:30, during which time Carin will have several of her books on sale. At 14:00 everyone wearing wellies, sunhats, sunscreen and mosquito repellent are invited to join us in the Penny Park Wetland to identify some of the plants from Carin’s talk.

Carin’s accommodation kindly sponsored by Elandskuil Guesthouse.
