HELEN & GORDON TREWEEK
Tel: 083 304 6515 / 082 923 3086
Helen and Gordon are both artistic, creative entrepreneurs. They have now developed Willowdale, their home farm, into a multi-faceted venue. A casual garden, creatively designed, is home to a nursery “Khuphuka” which means “to rise”. Here, mostly indigenous plants are sold as an upliftment project for the staff who are very proud of their achievements. Letha has taken charge of the whole garden and has shown potential as a landscaper, growing in knowledge of various plants.
Helen from TLC will provide light lunches and refreshments
A Turkish meat and malt lunch will be on offer on Sunday, picnic style.
Please feel free to bring blankets, wine and cushions and enjoy music in the garden.
Jerry Kunene will fill the evening and lunch-times with tunes on his saxophone. Jerry Kunene is a saxophonist who began his music career in the 1950’s. He is best known as the “KZN Old Lion of Jazz” and his group Jerry and His Men (formerly known as Jerry’s Sextet in the 1960’s) was formed in the 1970’s. In the mid 1980’s he joined the big band Music Unlimited and the band strongly portrayed its highlights as tributes to Tommy Dorsey, Sammy Davis Jnr, Louis Armstrong and Glen Miller, which were staged by The Playhouse Company. Jerry has travelled extensively all over the world playing with different groups such as joining the Township Fever Musical in New York with Mbongeni Ngema where they performed to full house audiences in Brooklyn of Broadway. He has played with numerous other local and famous musicians.
The Barn, selling old collectables and furniture will be open and ‘The Mudchicks’ will be displaying their ceramics. Helen will also be displaying some of her art.
